  • After proceeding through Chinese Immigration and Customs, you will be met by an RHT Education representative in the Arrivals Hall.
  • Most airlines fly into Terminal 2 and if for some reason you miss our ‘Meet & Greet’ then please wait at Information Desk beside Terminal 2 Arrivals.
  • Communication is convenient as there is free WiFi throughout Shanghai Pudong Airport. You will then be led to your air-conditioned coach.
  • As participants from different countries will arrive at different times, our staff will ensure that you are all occupied with the early arrivals visiting the local Chenghuang Temple while they wait for the others.
  • After a two hour drive you will go straight to dinner and your first experience of traditional Chinese cuisine.
  • After dinner, you will be transferred to the Aster Suzhou Hotel where you will be welcomed, formally introduced to your new friends, meet your room companions, and have the program’s agenda explained in detail.
  • After being shown to your room, finally, a well-earned sleep and the promise of new adventures the next day.
  • Today mark’s your first encounter with a traditional Chinese breakfast, bon appetite.
  • Your first visit will be to the renowned Suzhou Research Institute of South-East University where you will see first-hand innovation and technology start-ups. You will have ample opportunity for questions with emerging entrepreneurs and actual professors who will introduce you to their work. Lunch follows.
  • In the afternoon you will travel to the ancient village of Tongli where you will encounter the life of the people of the region unchanged over centuries.
  • While exploring Tongli’s you will see the elegant canals that have earned it the nickname of ‘the Venice of the East’.
  • Back to Suzhou for dinner.
  • After dinner you are invited to listen to RHT Education’s Vice President who will lecture on the value of a career connected to China, the trends from within Chinese and overseas companies and the “Competitive Edge’ that such a career path offers.
  • The evening program includes opportunities to ask questions and debate issues.
  • Following a short information session on what will happen the next day, it’s off to sleep.
  • Breakfast first and then it’s off to visit China Telecom, China’s leading provider of phone and internet services.
  • After an introduction to the company, you will experience firsthand how the demands of the world’s largest telecommunication provider are met.
  • Before you depart China Telecom you will learn why such companies want to employ overseas talent and what they look for in their recruitment policies. Then, time for lunch.
  • Google is not accessible in China but who cares? After lunch you will encounter the Chinese juggernaut Baidu.
  • You will visit Baidu’s Marketing Center for an eye-opening insight into the e-commerce capital of the world’s fastest developing mega-economy.
  • Following Baidu, you will be transported back in time to one of China’s oldest and most iconic industries … silk production. Learn of traditional processes and how they’ve kept in step with world demand.
  • After such a packed day we anticipate that jet-lag will have kicked-in, so it’s off on a leisurely three-hour bus ride to the provincial capital Nanjing.
  • As we will arrive in Nanjing at dinner time then that’s what you’ll do. After dinner it will be an early check-in to the Ding-Shan Hotel, a briefing on the next day’s activities and the chance to catch-up on some much needed sleep.
  • In the morning you will awake to a hearty breakfast and short bus ride to the Nanjing University of Art where the first item of business will be an introductory class of Taichi.
  • Following that you will welcomed to the campus and given a guided tour of their facilities, their faculties and their project work.
  • You will be introduced to students and professors doing everything from graphic art to sculpturing.
  • Ho Hai University is our first stop after lunch and you will be greeted with a tour of their brand new campus and facilities.
  • You will then be introduced to some of the international courses that have made it famous, Civil Engineering and Business.
  • We will then it’s back for the official “welcome” dinner, co- hosted by the Nanjing University of Art and the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education.
  • After dinner, you will attend the 2nd in our guest lecture series where you will learn about ‘Studying in China’.
  • You will be spoken to by an expert lecturer who will explain to you the advantages of studying in China, give you advice on maximizing the benefits of your time here, and tips on how to best position yourself to receive a much-coveted scholarship.
  • Finally, the floor will be opened for questions, and afterwards you will retire for the evening.
  • A more leisurely start to the day will see you head downtown for a visit to the Industrial Bank.
  • Here those who have an interest in business and finance will witness the challenges faced in the world of international banking from an insider’s point of view.
  • An early lunch will be the pre-cursor for a real-life Nanjing experience … the subway.
  • After lunch you will stroll to the Nanjing Metro and embark on an hour-long ride all the way on Line 1 to one of Nanjing’s four higher education zones where you will be hosted by the China Pharmaceutical University.
  • You be introduced to the Universities diverse program range and guided through their amazing medicine gardens and the Chinese Traditional Medical Museum.
  • After Dinner on campus, the group will take part in a workshop.
  • Designed by the faculty of the university especially for the group, participants will be guided through the process of developing a business model for a health care institute. A useful skill to learn no matter what career you may choose.
  • After the workshop it will be back on the bus and a return to the Ding-Shan Hotel.
  • After breakfast the journey takes a more somber tone as we visit the Nanjing Massacre Museum. Here you will learn about one of the darkest chapters of Chinese modern history.
  • Informative and well presented, this world class center will give you a new perspective on some of the atrocities of World War 2.
  • Lunch will be served after a short journey to Zhonghuamen.
  • A trip to the largest city walls ever constructed in China will take place in the afternoon.
  • Walking along the ancient and historic Ming Dynasty Gate looking at the city below is sure to be a highlight of your visit.
  • We believe that by this stage you will be in need of some “western food” and just to keep it novel you will be treated to burgers and the like at the highly credentialed New Zealand restaurant Motu.
  • It’s on to the Confucius Temple Zone in the evening. Here you will tour the ancient temple, enjoy the beautiful Qinghuai river, and bargain hunt for souvenirs in the bustling shopping promenade.
  • RHT Education has arranged a “treasure hunt” to complement the visit with a lucky person winning a prize.
  • Afterwards you’ll return to your hotel having been briefed on the activities to follow the next day.
  • Following another hearty breakfast, we will take a short bus journey to the natural wonder which is Purple Mountain.
  • You’ll follow the ancient Stone Avenue to the awe-inspiring Ming Tombs. These contrast perfectly to the natural surroundings and will give a deeper appreciation for Chinese tradition and history.
  • We’ll then have lunch and head directly to Xuanwu Lake.
  • After lunch, we will go on a trip to Xuanwu lake. Here you will walk around one of China’s most beautiful lakes and go from island to island taking in all this 5 star scenic area has to offer.
  • Dinner will be a local treat … a traditional hotpot at Nanjing’s most popular restaurant for families and tourists alike.
  • After returning from our adventures, the kind students of Nanjing University of the Arts’ Performing Arts Faculty will treat you to a traditional Chinese performance.
  • After the festivities you will once again be informed of the next day’s talks and activities before going to bed.
  • After breakfast you will tour Original Force, a world leading Computer Graphics Imagery (CGI) company with its global headquarters in Nanjing. During your tour you will see what the future of this amazing industry will look like and visit its internal institute.
  • We will then break up this busy day with lunch.
  • After lunch, we’ll then move on to Gulou Hospital and take a look at their top-notch facilities via a guided tour. Practicing medical interns will explain how modern medicine and state of the art facilities provide a platform for world class services in Nanjing.
  • After lunch it’s back on the bus and off to visit Jiangning Development Zone. This is a model government zone for light industry where the group will get a micro-peak at how the development of modern China is planned and put into practice.
  • On the way we will pass Zifeng tower, one of the tallest buildings in the world. At the tower you will see one of the marvels of modern China and gain an appreciation of the massive construction projects underway.
  • After an extremely busy day we will have dinner at the 6 Star Fairmont Hotel. Key staff will take small groups through their facilities, explaining how an elite hotel operates and the what opportunities are available for emerging talent.
  • Whew, when that’s all said and done it’s back to the Ding-Shan and sleep.
  • The Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics will be our first stop after breakfast today.
  • NUAA is considered the place to study if you are looking for a career in the field of Avionics and Mechanical Engineering in Jiangsu.
  • The tour here also includes a look at their fantastic exhibition hall featuring decommissioned aircraft both new and old. Lunch will then be provided at their very well stocked canteen.
  • In the afternoon we will take a tour of the Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunication.
  • Here you will be introduced to the great facilities at their Communications and International Relations departments, and given a brief talk on what they offer under-grads.
  • We will then tour one of their exhibitions to see what projects the University has been involved in, and what you could expect to gain from enrolment.
  • Your evening will begin with a dinner at the Nanjing University of Arts before participating in a student panel discussion.
  • You will hear from range of international students currently studying in Nanjing and have a chance to discuss their experiences with them in small groups after the panel session. There will also be a group of Chinese university staff in attendance who will be available to answer any questions you may have.
  • Before going to sleep you will be advised on the events to follow the next day.
  • Your morning will be a visit to Nemak Aluminium Foundry today. Nemak is one of the largest car part manufactures in Jiangsu and prepares parts for Mercedes, Porsche and many others.
  • Here you will learn how the huge global assembly plants such as Ford rely on hundreds of parts manufacturers to provide the parts that make-up the finished product.
  • We will then take a short bus ride for lunch.
  • In the afternoon, we will take a short bus ride to software mega-company ZTE Communications. There you will get a first-hand look at one of the world’s biggest software and communication firms and tour their manufacturing and development facilities.
  • You will also gain an appreciation that in the global economy, China is involved in some way in virtually every industry.
  • Tonight we won’t take you to dinner because you’ll be cooking it in a workshop.
  • You will be visiting U-Park, a centre of high-end technology where you will visit RHT Education’s headquarters.
  • Then its on to the floor above at a renowned noodle and dumpling restaurant. Here the group will be shown how to make and cook Chinese noodles and dumplings and will eat the results.
  • The evening will comprise of another chance to shop as you visit one of Asia’ infamously large malls.
  • Your briefing on the next day’s activities will then occur and then it’s off to bed.
  • The University of Information Technology will be our first stop after breakfast today. Information Technology is one of the most important sectors of today’s global economy.
  • A tour of the universities facilities and a showcase of its International Economics and IT departments will show you how you can get ahead in this increasingly competitive industry.
  • After this we will have a quick lunch then it’s on to Yangzhou, two hours North East of Nanjing.
  • Yangzhou is one the most beautiful cities of Jiangsu and features many traditional homes of the rich and famous from days gone past but Yangzhou University is our goal.
  • After arriving at Yangzhou University you will be given a tour of its beautiful campus. We will then visit its Agricultural Laboratories and look at what they have to offer in terms of environmental science.
  • Dinner will be on campus and afterwards you will participate in a hands-on workshop featuring their laboratories and using cutting-edge technology.
  • Once more it’s off to bed at the New Centry Hotel but on the way you will have a chance to walk beside engineering marvel which is the Grand Canal.
  • Yangzhou is famous for its scenic ‘Slender West Lake’. After breakfast we will get on the bus and head there for a morning of activities.
  • You will get to visit and tour the beautiful ‘Geyuan Garden’ and take part in traditional rockery art.
  • After this it's a quick lunch and back on the bus.
  • Much of the afternoon will be spent on the way back to the final destination of your Journey, Shanghai. Upon arrival we will check-in to the Heyi Hotel and head out for sadly, our farewell dinner.
  • At dinner, you can say goodbye to your group mates, share your favorite moments, and enjoy the local Shanghainese cuisine. Oh yes, there will be the awarding of your certificates as well as the announcement of the winners of the photographic competition.
  • After dinner, you will go straight onto one of the Huangpu River’s famous cruise boats and head out onto the river. Whilst on the river you will be able to see Shanghai in all its glory. You’ll cruise past the Bund and Shanghai’s many iconic buildings.
  • You will then find out your flight information for the next day and go to bed for the last time in China.
  • After breakfast RHT Education will then take you back to Pudong Airport.
  • Here you will catch your flight home, taking with you the knowledge you have acquired, a new insight into China, and, we believe, some fantastic memories.

THE ADVANTAGE PROGRAM

The Advantage Program is an invitation-only joint initiative of RHT Education, Jiangsu universities, Jiangsu enterprises and the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education. Your school has been selected to participate in The Advantage Program together with schools representing the United States, Canada, Europe and the United Kingdom.

Each student must be nominated by their school and currently enrolled in Years 10 or 11. Students do not require to have any level of Chinese language but they should have an interest in exploring the academic pathways on offer in China. Schools may nominate up to six students.
