PROGRAM ITINERARY

This is a working itinerary. Universities, companies, hotels, and restaurants may be replaced with similar ones depending on numbers and availability. You will be informed of any changes by email prior to the beginning of the program.

  • Your journey begins after you touchdown in China where a RHT representative will meet you in the airport. After a 45-minute drive you will go straight to dinner and your first experience of traditional Chinese cuisine. After dinner, you will be transferred to your Hotel where you will be given an orientation. During this period you will be welcomed, formally introduced to your new friends, meet your room companions, and have the program’s agenda explained in detail. You will also be given advice on how to get the most out of your experience.
  • An introduction to Nanjing University of the Arts and the courses they offer begins our second day. They will then give a guided tour of their campus which will conclude with a class of Taichi. Following this it’s off to Ho Hai University for a lecture on water conservation. Ho Hai will then give a demonstration of a traditional tea ceremony. The evening will include a lecture explaining the advantages of studying in China, giving advices on maximizing the benefits of your time here, and tips on how to best position yourself to receive a much-coveted scholarship.
  • A trip to the industrial bank to view the opportunities available in the finance sector is followed by a walk through downtown Xinjiekou and on to the Nanjing Subway. In the afternoon we head to Chinese Pharmaceutical University for a look at their diverse program range and a look at the scholarships they offer. This is followed by a guided tour through their amazing medicine gardens and the Chinese Traditional Medical Museum. Finally, you will participate in a workshop on health care management, comparing practices in China with your home country.
  • Today we will begin with a tour around CGI production company Original Force’s state of the art offices and motion capture studios. Responsible for the graphics for popular games from Disney, Warner Brothers, and Rock Star, Original Force is one of the premier companies of its type. After lunch we will head to Gulou hospital to see the facilities modern medicine in China has to offer. The evening will be a tour of Nanjing’s 6 star Fairmont hotel, and a talk discussing the booming tourism industry in China and what it means for countries abroad.
  • Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics will kick off the day with a lecture followed by a tour of the aviation projects they are involved in. These include modern aircraft production and rocketry. Following lunch we’ll head to Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunication and a look at the communications courses they offer. The evening takes us to Confucius Temple Zone, where you can soak in the culture, explore ancient temples, and do a bit of souvenir shopping. A ‘treasure hunt’ is also on the cards with a fabulous prize for the winning team.
  • The weekend begins on a respectful note as we visit the Nanjing Massacre Museum. You will learn about one of the darkest chapters of Chinese modern history during the Second World War. After lunch a hike along the Nanjing City Walls concludes in Laomendong, an area famed for its traditional Chinese Architecture. The evening we will go on a pub crawl. We will visit 4 different bars and restaurants. From this experience you can get to know what the social scene is like in China and how you might be relaxing after a long week of studying.
  • A hike up Purple Mountain kicks off Sunday. Here you will travel through the stone animal pathway to visit the Ancient Ming tombs. On the way back you will pass-by the forefather of modern China Sun Yat Sen’s Mausoleum. After lunch we’ll stroll around the interconnected islands of Nanjing’s majestic Xuan Wu Lake. In the evening you’ll be treated to a traditional Chinese dance and music performance at Nanjing University of the Arts. If you're feeling brave you are more than welcome to take to the stage and show off your own talent.
  • On to production today as we begin with a tour of Nemak’s aluminum foundry. Here you will see what opportunities are available in one of the largest automotive part suppliers in the world. It's then off to a very different production company at ZTESoftware where they produce the systems for a variety electronics. For dinner you will engage in a dumpling and noodle workshop where you will learn to make your own. In the evening you will be taken to one of Asia’s famous ‘super-malls’ for shopping and recreation.
  • The University of Information Technology will be our first stop today as you learn about the courses and projects they run. Following this they will give a tour of their grounds and the impressive meteorological projects currently underway. We then head to one of the most beautiful cities in Jiangsu; Yangzhou. Here you will tour Yangzhou University, attend a lecture introducing the courses they offer, and visit their agricultural laboratories. The evening will contain a lecture on pursuing study, an internship, or a career in China and how to proceed from there.
  • Yangzhou is famous for its scenic ‘Slender West Lake’. After breakfast we will get on the bus and head there for a morning of activities. You will then get to visit and tour the beautiful ‘Geyuan Garden’ and take part in traditional rockery art. In the afternoon you'll sample to some traditional Yangzhou fried Rice for lunch, then it’s on to Jiangsu University to learn about their International Economics and Trade programs and tour their campus. Finally, we will have a farewell dinner to announce the winners of the competitions, give out certificates and say our goodbyes.
  • After breakfast RHT Education will then take you to the airport.

OPTIONAL EXTRAS

If you are interested in extending your tour, an additional 3 days can be added where you will be taken to Beijing or Shanghai and shown some of the many tourist spots China is famous for.
The Beijing tour includes: The Great wall of China, Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, the Summer Palace, and the Temple of Heaven.
The Shanghai tour includes: Qibao town, Chenghuang temple, Going up the Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower, and a cruise along the Bund.
A minimum of 10 students must sign up for each tour for it to run and additional charges apply. Please see below
